No matter where you end up spending the holidays this year – stuck in an airport terminal, happy by yourself in your comfy abode, hiding out upstairs in your childhood bedroom, or hanging with a friend at a dark corner bar, you can artfully upgrade your mood by watching cams of festive scenery and videos of other people having fun! Here are our favorite holiday-themed mood-booster videos this year.
Estes Park Taffy Shop Cam
The Taffy Shop in downtown Estes Park, Colorado, was established in 1935. It’s a beloved local landmark known for its handmade saltwater taffy. Their webcam offers a mesmerizing street view of the taffy pulling machine in the shop’s window, as well as the equally mesmerized passersby on the sidewalk outside.
Hyland Hills Ski Cam
If you can’t get to a ski resort any time soon, you can at least snow-geek out watching the endless lines of skiers and snowboarders bouncing down the Skyline run at Hyland Hills Ski Area in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Maine Sky Cam
Depending on the weather, nighttime live views from the dark sky region atop Mount Katahdin in northern Maine feature star, meteor, and Northern Lights displays throughout the winter. Check out this cam to see what’s happening each night.
Christmas Holiday Cams
Enjoy these revolving live cam views of festive markets, plazas, squares, and downtown streets from around the world. Watch the world celebrate Christmas while you wrap gifts or write those last-minute cards!
Portsmouth New Hampshire Ice Skating Cam
Every day during the holiday season, happy visitors and townies enjoy skating, dancing (and sometimes falling), on the ice pond outside the Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Snowing Outside
We got your white Christmas right here! Go full-screen and crawl under the comforter to enjoy this winter snowstorm howling outside the window of your imaginary mountain cabin. Crank up the AC if you live in the South!
Yule Log
No fireplace at your house? No worries! When we played this blazing beauty on our phone and propped it up on the table at a restaurant one Christmas eve, people actually gathered around to watch! No tacky music, just 8 hours of actual cracklin’ yule log coziness.
Sloppy Joe’s Bar Cam
Lots of folks head down to Key West this time of year. Unlike northern holiday traditions, Christmas in Key West means warm breezes, island lights, and parties spilling into the streets. Sloppy Joe’s embodies that tropical holiday spirit perfectly – even the Ernest Hemingway look-alikes who hang out here could easily sub for Santa Claus.
NORAD Santa Tracker Cam
On Christmas Eve (Dec 24), radar “tracking” of Santa goes live at midnight at NORADSANTA.ORG with updates showing Santa’s sleigh flying across the globe. The tradition began in 1955 due to a misprinted phone number in a Sears ad and has since become one of the Department of Defense’s largest community outreach programs. Kids can also call 1 (877) HI-NORAD to get updates on Santa’s whereabouts from NORAD volunteers.
New Year’s Eve Party Ambience
No need to fret about what to wear to the party this year or worry about driving home after the place closes. You ARE the party! All you need is this New Year’s Eve party background noise, a split of champagne, and your fave new pair of comfy PJs. Call some friends to wish them well and make them think you’re out on the town!
Tropical Beach
Sick to death of frigid temps, snow, sleet, and the crunch of Ice-Melt under your feet? You can still have a white Christmas this year – a white sandy beach Christmas that is! You don’t even have to watch this video. Just close your eyes and listen to the gentle waves lapping Ngwe Saung Beach in Myanmar. Mix up a Mai-Tai and turn up the heat for a more realistic experience.
