Sip the Mmm-magic of Matcha

It’s getting chilly out there these days. Great weather for enjoying a nice hot cup of tea. How about a cup of matcha?

Matcha, the beautifully luminous green tea that is the central focus of the Japanese classical tea ceremony, has many remarkable properties. Besides imparting a sense of calmness and concentration to a meditation session, the finely powdered tea has also been known to reduce stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, and various physical pains.

Plus, matcha, made from the youngest leaves of the traditional tea tree (Camellia sinensis), contains L-theanine, an amino acid that helps you feel relaxed but energized at the same time. Drinking this special tea regularly is renowned for increasing a sense of well-being and a happy outlook.

Matcha is also loaded with catechins, a class of plant compounds in tea that act as natural antioxidants. It also helps promote healthy skin and teeth, weight loss, and fertility.

Take that, coffee!

Matcha tea powder is easily mixed with boiling water and widely available these days in most grocery stores and online shops. Or have it brewed up special at your coffee or tea bar.
